Kingsgrove Cricket Club is proud of the players who have grown through our club and gone on to represent their state, their country and professional teams around the world. Sam Konstas is one of the most exciting young players to come through the Kingsgrove pathway in recent years. Starting out in junior cricket at the club, Sam quickly showed his talent and commitment, progressing through representative levels before making his first-class debut for New South Wales in November 2023.
Sam announced himself on the national stage in the Sheffield Shield, including a standout performance in October 2024 when he scored twin centuries against South Australia - becoming the youngest player to achieve the feat since Ricky Ponting. It was a moment that highlighted not just his skill, but his composure and maturity at the crease.
His rise continued with a debut season for the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League, where he made an immediate impact, recording the fastest half-century in Thunder history. Sam’s performances soon earned him a call-up to the Australian team (Cap No. 468), where he debuted on Boxing Day against India, scoring an impressive 60 in front of a packed MCG - a proud moment for Sam, his family, and everyone at Kingsgrove.
Now committed to the Sydney Thunder on a long-term deal, Sam’s journey from Kingsgrove junior to Australian representative is a powerful example of where hard work, belief and the right club environment can lead.
